Please share a few things about you
Hello, my name is Kate, and I live in London with my family and our cat, Misty (who also supports Ukraine – here she is standing guard at a bake sale we held â). I’m a policy lawyer by profession and in my spare time, I’m studying for a Master’s degree and doing my best to learn Ukrainian.
What’s the driving force behind your decision to support Ukraine?
I support Ukraine because they are fighting genocide. And we owe them big time for showing us that no fate is set in stone if you’re willing to fight for what you believe in.
After seeing at the start of the full-scale invasion how patchy international organisations were in getting aid to Ukraine, I switched to supporting Ukraine-based charities – they are closer to the ground, know what’s needed, and can deliver it faster.
And our fund specifically?
Dzyga’s Paw is one of the best – tireless and totally transparent, so you know that donations will be spent on what’s needed most. And also just a lovely bunch of people doing their best to support the military that defends us all.
Which other UA charities do you support or follow?
In addition to supporting charities focused on helping the military, big (like United 24 and the Prytula Foundation) and small (like Protect Ukrainian Defenders, another incredibly committed and transparent team sourcing quality medical supplies for frontline medics), I also support projects that protect and promote Ukrainian culture and those which build for the future – like Будємо Україну Разом (Building Ukraine Together).
What would you like to tell the Ukrainian people?
I want Ukrainians to know that support doesn’t just mean helping them win the war but continues after the victory.
