Why is my payment declined?

If your data was entered incorrectly, you can return to the previous page (payment page) and attempt to re-enter your information.
1. The transaction is declined by the issuing bank
Usually, this error is indicated as “Do not honor.” The card is blocked, the status was set, or it’s closed for online payments. Since the specific reason can vary, the best course of action is to contact your bank directly. They will be able to inform you of the exact reason for the error and guide you on the necessary steps to resolve it.
Alternatively, we recommend using a card from a different bank, direct bank transfer via SWIFT or PayPal. Explore all the available payment methods in Alternative donation methods.
2. 3D Secure authentication failed
Your card details or 3D Secure verification password haven’t been entered correctly.
Our payment system requires a 3D Secure authentication, which is an additional step of protection for online payments. With the 3D Secure, you need to validate every transaction with your PIN code. However, not many banks in the USA or Canada use 3D Secure authentication, so the payment is automatically declined.
In this case, we recommend using a card from a different bank (if available) or explore all the available payment methods in Alternative donation methods.
3. Double currency conversion is disabled on your card
Double currency conversion occurs when transfers are made between accounts that use different currencies. As our organization is legally bound to charge donations in Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH), the acquiring bank is required to convert funds from your card’s currency to UAH.
Typically, double currency conversion is deactivated on cards, preventing the acquiring bank from converting your funds into the designated currency. You can activate double currency conversion through your card settings on the bank’s website, app, or by contacting your bank directly.
Please note that the payment amount may slightly differ from the specified donation amount.
4. Declined by antifraud
Transactions may be declined if our anti-fraud system detects an unusual pattern for a donor, such as too many attempts to make a donation in a short period of time or a risky billing location.
More likely the next attempt will be successful. If not, we recommend you contact your card issuer for more information or try Alternative donation methods (SWIFT, PayPal etc.)
5. Not sufficient funds
There are not enough funds on the card – check if you have the required amount of money on your bank card.
6. The limit of Internet payment has been exceeded
Every card has a limit on financial transactions for online payments. If the limit on your card is set to zero, all the online payments made with this card will be restricted.
You can adjust this limit for online payments through your card settings on the bank’s website, app, or by contacting the bank directly.
7. Card limit exceeded
The amount of your donation, the number of bank transactions per day, or the total money transfer exceeds your card’s limit for the day.

SWIFT
Consider using a bank transfer (SWIFT) for your payment. Opting for this method enables you to transfer funds in your currency directly to our bank account in that same currency without incurring conversion fees. Notably, we’ve received successful payments from other donors directly into our bank accounts.
