Who are we?
Kopternya is a sophisticated volunteer team of civilian engineers united with frontline pilots and military technicians. Together, we design advanced reusable FPV bombers, optimized for precision strikes for effective frontline defence and vital logistics operations.
What do we do
We produce reusable, low-cost, small- and medium-sized drones in the most valuable way:
Work at an advanced level:
Employ technical experience of mature civilian engineers and managers for effective R&D development and innovations delivery to the battlefield
Save time for fighters:
Offload the daily engineering routine from drone operators and military technicians, allowing more humane schedules between tactical objectives
Be cost effective:
Replace expensive DJI drones used for logistic and bombing purposes with 3x cheaper alternative
Educate volunteers:
Provide an opportunity for civilians to gain the cutting-edge engineering skills required in the military UAV context
Share knowledge:
Cooperate with Ukrainian UAV local producers, enabling knowledge sharing and effective combination of drone component base usage
Why are we so special
We design and co-develop our copters with military operators and technicians, ensuring every solution is grounded in the latest frontline experience
Our volunteering team has a complex set of skills that cover the entire process of effective drone manufacturing: starting from the optimised components procurement processes, extensive software and hardware engineering background, ending with thorough drone test flights on local proving grounds
We are cost effective through the smart reuse of components from broken drones, sent by frontline units, sharing resources with other local workshops, and sourcing copter hardware at minimal prices through our trusted supplier network
Сollaboration with top Ukrainian technical universities connects us with outstanding minds who bring fresh ideas and technical excellence to our country’s defense
Our Story
When the full-scale invasion started, a group of close university friends from engineering faculties took paths towards helping their country. Iryna and her husband founded this fund, raising millions of dollars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Dan joined the army in 2022 and became a senior sergeant in the UAV unit of the 47th Mechanized Brigade. Bohdan continued developing intelligent software for improving cancer diagnosis, while also raising funds for different units, where his close friends serve.

During 2023-2024, Dan’s UAV unit developed a mature internal drone workshop where they modernise and adapt drones for their needs. However, the huge pressure of intense battles combined with the high engineering load was too draining for Dan’s team to sustain long-term. Dan, together with Bohdan, Iryna, and other friends in their engineering community, responded to this challenge and organised the extension to this workshop in the rear.
Now, volunteers and professionals alike work tirelessly to support Ukraine’s defenders. It is far beyond drones.
It’s about resilience, social unity, and responsible friendship of those who truly care about each other.
What have we done?
For the last months, our team has done tremendous work. We implemented dozens of iterations on improving bomber design. Thank you, supporters of Dzyga’s Paw community, for funding workshop equipment, drone components, and all related consumables during the production process.
