100 multitools to demine Ukraine

We raised $16,300 but managed to purchase the multitools at a lower cost and spent $10,784. After a tax refund of $2,059, we got a final expense of $8,725.

The remaining donations of  $7,575 were directed toward operational expenses and other projects supporting our defenders.

Seven demining crews of Ukrainian Emergency Services received packages of 10 or 20 multitools for their activity in Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv Regions.

We also gave our supporters a unique opportunity to engrave a short message for our deminers during our fundraiser.

Backstory

This summer, with our hero Vlad Sokolov, an Emergency Services Officer, we delivered 100 Leatherman EOD multitools to seven Ukrainian Emergency Services Units for the demining crews currently working on deoccupied areas of Ukraine.

These tools are substitutes for a whole pack of heavy equipment, allowing for reduced time for performing tasks and decreasing casualties.

Officially, 30% of the territory of Ukraine is mined. This is close to the size of the entire state of Florida or two times the size of Austria.

Millions of people are endangered daily by doing simple activities like returning from work, playing outside with kids, farming, riding a bike, or fishing.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is doing a heroic job every day: they are investigating, searching, and defusing all the remnants of war, usually reported by civilians who were lucky to be cautious enough to notice something amiss.

100 multitools can save time, which equals a year of demining work. Your donation helped to make the liberation of Ukrainian territories from the consequences of the war faster.

Why multitools?

Multitools are required to prepare explosive charges to disarm mines and cluster munitions that cannot be moved; therefore, they must be destroyed at the point of detection.

Currently, pyrotechnics that do not have such multitools in service need to take a large number of tools with them to minefields, which does not contribute to work efficiency.

Having these multitools helps to reduce the time of manufacturing charges. As a result, pyrotechnics can destroy a greater number of dangerous objects during a working trip.

We chose Leatherman multitools because they have the best characteristics among analogues and are the most valued by Ukrainian Emergency Officers.

Other donation options

Similar to securing safe movement, ADS are crucial to evacuating wounded soldiers. They prevent enemy detection and attacks, ensuring that evacuation teams can carry out their missions without additional threats.

Engineering units responsible for laying mines in gray zones and building defensive lines, bridges, and crossings during the advancement of assault units rely on ADS to ensure their safety. These systems help maintain secure logistical connections with the rear, ensuring the continuity of operations.

Soldiers, in particular, FPV drone operators can work closer to enemy lines with relative safety by using ADS. These systems protect against enemy detection and attacks, enhancing both safety and operational effectiveness.

Moving to and from combat positions is one of the most dangerous moments for troops, especially for FPV drone teams. ADS blocks enemy signals, ensuring safer movement and preventing enemy drones from targeting and destroying the crew.
